last two days to pre-order THE ARCTIC FURY!

THE ARCTIC FURY comes out the day after tomorrow — eek! And yes, that means I’m a bundle of nerves, but it also means something that affects you, the readers, much more directly: time to pre-order is running out!

If you pre-order the book, you’ll not only get special treats, but you’ll also be entered to win a grand prize pack. Here’s a picture of said grand prize, full of cozy things to warm you from the inside out and outside in:

THE ARCTIC FURY highlighted by Professional Book Nerds!

Bookish podcast listeners know the delightful Professional Book Nerds podcast well, and I was thrilled to hear them highlight THE ARCTIC FURY in their December books preview episode!

Tune in here.

me and all my books!

Hi there from the caves of So Much To Do With a Book Coming Out So Soon! My to-do list is seriously out of control. One of the things I’ve been meaning to do and haven’t managed to make time for is updating that Books header at the top of the page.

But until I do — if you want handy links to ALL my books, including The Arctic Fury (and its fabulous pre-order prize pack!), the best place to go is this handy-dandy Sourcebooks page. Many thanks to my publisher for staying on top of this stuff when I can’t!

(It’s also got links to book club guides, about which more soon!)

join me in The Back Room on November 22!

I am super-excited about next week’s event with The Back Room — it’s a format I’ve never done before. So there are four historical fiction authors, and we all start out the event in one big group, as at the type of online author event you’ve probably been to many, many times. But! Then we split out into breakout rooms, each author with a smaller group of attendees, and that way you get a chance for more interaction, more discussion, more everything! Kind of like hanging around after a reading and getting the chance to chat, back in the Before Times.

And this lineup! I mean! Finola Austin! Melanie Benjamin! Kristina McMorris! (And me.)

Sign up here ASAP, before all the spaces are full. They cap registration so the breakout rooms don’t get unruly. We want to see your smiling faces — engagement is the name of the game.

new review of THE ARCTIC FURY from BookPage!

You can tell pub day is getting close because the reviews are rolling in fast and thick! Such a lovely review from BookPage, which calls it “a cracking good story“ — and I love their warm, thoughtful look at the book, which manages to summarize and explain a great deal without giving too much away.

The real Lady Jane Franklin sponsored a number of expeditions to find her explorer husband, Rear Admiral Sir John Franklin, after he and his men went missing in the Arctic. Though there’s no record of an all-female expedition, that hasn’t stopped Greer Macallister from writing a cracking good story about one in her fourth novel, The Arctic Fury.

THE ARCTIC FURY pre-order campaign!

Have you ordered your copy of THE ARCTIC FURY yet? Good news if you have, and good news if you haven’t! Because Sourcebooks is running a fabulous deal. Just pre-order the book (from anywhere! seriously! wherever!) and you’ll not only get special treats, but you’ll also be entered to win a grand prize pack. Here’s a picture of said grand prize, full of all things warm and shiny:

But even if you don’t win the big kahuna gift pack, you still win. Because if you submit your pre-order information to Sourcebooks through this form, you’ll receive:

  • a signed bookplate

  • lip balm (so necessary in the harsh Arctic weather!)

  • nail polish in a frosty Northern blue.

If you need suggestions on where to buy the book, there are some links on the pre-order page, and I’d also like to recommend ordering directly from one of the amazing independent bookstores where I’ll be doing events to promote THE ARCTIC FURY:

(And if you want in on those events, check out the details here.)

THE ARCTIC FURY hits shelves December 1, so if you want the goodies, make sure to get your pre-order in before then! And submit your order confirmation here.

Writing Outside of Books panel now available!

Not long ago, I did a really enjoyable online panel with E.A. Aymar and Bethanne Patrick through the Fairfax County Public Library. Registration was capped at a small number so we could be interactive and answer questions, so I know not too many people got to see the event live — but now the video of the whole thing is online, so you can watch it whenever it’s convenient for you!

Especially great for writers, but I hope just about anyone will enjoy. I’m truly honored to have such great conversation partners and I think you can tell just how much fun we’re having.

Watch the whole video here.

THE ARCTIC FURY is a December 2020 IndieNext pick!

Oh, this made me SO happy! My first two books were both IndieNext picks, and I’m thrilled to announce that THE ARCTIC FURY has also won this fabulous honor from the delightful booksellers of the ABA. Extra-special thanks to Pamela Klinger-Horn, whose nominating quote appears in the official listing. We grabbed a snippet of it for this fun graphic:
