I love good book cover design, so it should be no surprise to hear that I love Spine, a magazine that focuses on book covers. They also interview writers about their process and practice -- of course I was tickled when they asked to interview me.

Writing fiction takes you in many directions. For my first novel THE MAGICIAN'S LIE I got to explore the world of stage magic, and how novelists are illusionists who work in words. For GIRL IN DISGUISE, about the first woman in the US to become a detective, I got to explore the similarities being being a detective and being a writer.

Ooh, this is just too exciting. Tucked snugly into this Deadline article about the new production and development head at Freckle Films is the name of the screenwriter who's working on the film adaptation of THE MAGICIAN'S LIE! I love this stuff. The movie is a far cry from being in theaters quite yet, but this is an encouraging sign.
